Cultural and educational event, the ȘEZĂTOAREA VICOVENILOR, now in its fourth edition, will take place from February 11-14, 2025, at the Laura Cultural Center in Vicovu de Sus.
The aim of this event is to revive the old custom of the “șezătoare,” where people would gather to work, sing, and tell stories, bringing together community members to share traditions, crafts, and folk songs.
ȘEZĂTOAREA VICOVENILOR is a unique cultural event that gathers people of all ages: from preschool children, primary and secondary school students, high schoolers, and young adults, to grandmothers aged 90. Spanning over four days, the event offers the community the opportunity to meet each evening of the “șezătoare” with invited artists and folklore groups from Suceava County and across the country, fostering coexistence and social cohesion.
The special guests of the fourth edition of ȘEZĂTOAREA VICOVENILOR, who will proudly represent Bucovina, include: Ancuța Corlățan, Alexandra Dan, Călin Brăteanu, Didi Cojocariu, Mihai Asăvoaie, Ioana Filip, Mădălina Lupu Popi, Diana Lungu, Elena Negru, Taraful Florin Mucea, Alexandru Cozaciuc, Viorel Pitic, the soloists of the Flori Vicovene Ensemble, and the project coordinator, Liliana Ursachi. “ȘEZĂTOAREA VICOVENILOR is more than just an event; it is a cultural manifestation with multiple functions: social, educational, and tourist, promoting an invaluable cultural heritage. It emerged from the desire to give back to the community that has shaped me everything I have learned over time. The audience attending our ‘șezătoare’ will have the chance to discover valuable information about traditional costumes, crafts, and customs presented by cultural figures, educators, ethnologists, as well as from the housewives who will be present or from other participants in the events taking place over those four days,” said Liliana Ursachi, project coordinator.
The project is organized by the cultural association Flori Vicovene, in partnership with the Vicovu de Sus City Hall. Events will be held daily from 14:00 to 22:00 during the ‘șezătoare,’ with traditional costumes as the mandatory attire.
